hello

wierd problem that is either pure coincidence, or somehow my gfx is to blame.

i recently got a new gtx280, installed it, working fine, used it for about a day playing crysis and such with no issues. then randomly in the evening my monitor, belinea 22" widescreen, just dies.

not a 'no signal' error, which implies the gfx crashed, or something, it just turns off. whenever i press the on button, it lights up green for less than one second, then goes back off. ive tried with a couple of different power cables, same result each time, so that made me think it wasnt the fuse in the plug that went.

what could it be? pure coicidence it dies same day i use a new gfx? or 'somehow' could something have killed it?
any other way for me to trouble shoot it?

i thought perhaps there was a power surge, but the pc didnt turn off.

set up:

p5ne sli
gtx280 @ stock
q6600 @ stock
2 gb geil 6400 @ stock
true power antec 550 watt < ---- is enough to run this system?
belinea 22" W

thanks in advance

the screen doesnt go into standby. if anyone is familiar with this monitor, although it must be the same for others, is when its plugged in, i turn it on with the on button, the button lights up green, then instantly goes back out. it doesnt even say 'no signal detected' on the screen and then goes into standby. the actual screen never activates.

and no, i cant see how its the gfx, as ive just been playing a whole bunch of games with it on my backup craptastic monitor.

this might sound like a stupid question but.......

does your old "backup" monitor and your belinea have the same connectors that fit into the graphics card? ie. DVI

yeah. but what im trying to get at is that the belinea wont even turn on when its not connected to a pc.

it should definately turn on, say 'no signal detected' then go into standy, which it is not doing. im just wondering could somehow the graphics card have totally ruined this monitor?
