Coke Life

Coca-Cola Life is a product of Coca Cola launched in Argentina in June 2013, and in Chile in November of that year. It was created in Argentina after five years of research in the country.[1]

It is the first version of the soft drink to be produced with stevia and sugar as sweeteners. Coca-Cola Life is due to be launched in the USA and Sweden, in September 2014; and is undergoing trials in the UK as of August 2014.[2][3]

It is a lower calorie version of Coca-Cola, having 27kcal/100mL, containing 60% of the calories of classic Coke.[4] Coca-Cola Life will co-exist with Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero[5] in the Argentine and Chile market.

It can be compared with Pepsi Next, which also uses Stevia as a sweetener.

Thanks Captain Wikipedia.

Yea, I tried it the other day - checking the nutritional value it didn't seem massively different to full sugar coke, but still had the artificial sweetener aftertaste.

I think I prefer Coke Zero.

Nope, would rather just have diet coke.
Unless your going to drink 200litres a day the artificial sweetener isn't going to do anything, and would rather not have the massive sugar spike and extra calories.
Yes sweetener tastes different to sugar, you soon get used to it and then hate the sugary taste, that makes you want to down 10pints of water straight after normal coke.

Thankfully mainly drink water these days, with the exception when I'm struggling at work on like a Saturday night.

No problem Captain NonWikipedo. :)

Haven't seen this as yet but hearing it has stevia in it has put me off. Admittedly I've only tried one brand of stevia sweetener but it tasted so unpleasant (sort of like burnt sugar) I took it in to work and gave it away to someone else who wanted it.

I'm happy enough drinking coke zero and don't drink anywhere near enough of it to be worried about it containing sweetener rather than sugar. It'll be interesting to see what people think of this new stuff though.

No one does, it's impossible. People love posting the rat study, but they were saturated in aspartame which isn't possible from food. Would need to get it in pure form and start eating it by the kilo.
It's safety limit is set to 40mg/kg that can be consumed every day if your life. Or about 6-7litres a day depending on your weight. It's one of the most study food additives in history and all come back as safe.

Indeed, I remember seeing a scientist on tv who specialised in nutrition, he basically said you couldn't drink enough of it for it to do any damage. That coupled with the fact that I drink it pretty rarely means it just isn't a concern.

I like it better because it has less calories and still tastes nice. I can't drink diet options because Aspartame disagrees with me and gives me '5 second warning'.

Might have to try some as if I drink more coke I'll be the size of a house, and diet coke is absolutely disgusting.

I havent seen it around yet but will give it a go. Pepsi Max is my goto drink if I fancy fizz though, just tastes the best to me for the lowest cals.

Wat

Coke doesn't have fat in it.

Oh come on, it's obvious he mean original coke. It's an expression. Full fat something means something with ALL the things in it without anything removed.

I remember watching something about British Airways cabin crew a few months ago where new cabin attendants referred to the 'red coke' as the 'full fat coke'. There was a huge uproar because they didn't use 'premium language'. Really made me laugh.

You say that, but I think you'll find that coke has had all the nutrional content removed that its ingredient could have ever had.

Joking aside though, I feel it's somewhat important to note that whilst it might be an expression people use, a fair amount of people do seem to think it has fat in it, and it also continues to perpetuate the notion that dietary fat is bad just because it's fat. A lot of people think all fats are equal, for example.
