coke zero v diet coke

Coke zero still leaves that feeling on your teeth that all calcium is being removed from your body, diet coke doesn't. Thus I prefer Diet coke.

This is spot on, normal coke, I don't know if I find it too sweet, I probably do, but its the truly awful feeling on my teeth thats left after drinking normal coke, and Coke Zero, diet coke is far more refreshing than both, without the dissolving tooth feeling left behind. Though both are bad for your teeth, at least with Diet Coke I can't actively feel the damage being done.

Diet doesn't taste like coke at all. It tastes of fizz and crap flavour.

Zero isn't too bad but come on you bunch of weight watchers . Drink regular and be done with it.

I prefer standard coke
On the basis that aspartame &@£&s you up more than a hell of a lot of sugar does

This. My mum had a lot of problems when she went on a diet and used sweeteners containing aspartame. It's crazy how much stuff actually contains it though now I look at the ingredients on stuff!

Full Fat wins everytime for me.

I was told by friends at a certain marketing agency that Coke Zero was only created because Diet Coke's image wasn't manly enough for your average bloke. Hence the direction of the adverts, office women waiting for the hunky bloke (I swear i've never been confused) to refill the Diet Coke machine & the Zero Coke adverts having helicopters & stuff blowing up.

I hate Coke Zero. It tastes like cabonated water. Dirty carbonated water.

My mate picked up some cans of Pepsi for me the other night. MAX! He has been banished from my house. Clown! :D

The mis-infomation in this thread is crazy.

Drinking diet coke makes you body produce insulin? BS.... but maybe it would save the NHS money on drugs for diabetics

Coke contains Carbolic acid... BS.... its phosphoric acid and dissolved C02 and its so diliute it does nothing to teeth.

Aspartame is evil.... BS... its been tested but some people in the tin foil hat bragade love to jump on this one for a million things it "causes" the warning on things is purely because some people with a genetic condition phenylketonuria (PKU) cant eat it.

Check their website

Eh? Who said anything about Carbolic acid? Coca Cola along with all carbonated drinks contain Carbonic acid, which will certainly damage your teeth.

Might want to read things a bit more carefully before shooting people down and calling BS.

Both leave you with insulin running through your body but with no sugar to eliminate.
"Aspartame did not trigger any insulin rensponse"

http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/abstract/82/5/1011

A study was conducted in USA which found conclusive evidence that if you drink enough (lots and lots) diet coke there's a high chance you'll start to experience the symptoms of MS due to the aspartame.
"Virtually all the information offered is anecdotal, from anonymous sources and is scientifically implausible." - From the Lancet, no less.

http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp

Diet Coke is not a diet product! It is a chemically altered, multiple Sodium (salt) and Aspartame containing product that actually makes you crave carbohydrates. It is therefore, far more likely to escalate weight gain!

These products also actually contain formaldehyde, which subtly accumulates in fat cells. In women particularly, gradually over time, the result can visibly 'pad out' the outer hips and thighs. Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin and is used primarily to preserve animal and human tissue specimens.

"The safety testing of aspartame has gone well beyond that required to evaluate the safety of a food additive. When all the research on aspartame, including evaluations in both the premarketing and postmarketing periods, is examined as a whole, it is clear that aspartame is safe, and there are no unresolved questions regarding its safety under conditions of intended use."

I believe there's also a section in there about how the formaldehyde levels are miniscule, and that the body produces it naturally anyway.

Carbonated drinks are not particually bad for your teeth, fruit juices for example are much worse.

and im a chemical engineer i know the diffrence between the two. If i miss read then its because i was reading some work things at the time as well and quickly scanning the thread so i appologise.

all carbonated drinks have carbonic acid? seeing as C02 disolved in water is carbonic acid yes they do, but its a nice scary sounding word.
Why not say all drinks include hydrogen dioxide and it can be fatal?

Citric acid sounds bad, vitamin C sounds good, get what i mean?

Oh in interest of full disclosure, I did my work expereince with Coke 22 years ago, and one of the things they had me doing was testing batches of products for both acidity and vitimin C decomposition. (Vit C decays during storage and they were checking that after 1 year in a tetrapak brick fruit juice products still contained the stated quantities on the side of the carton).

2 weeks in a lab made me realise i didnt want to be a chemist and moved me over to chemical engineering because why make something in a test tube when you can make 1500 thousand tonnes a year of it instead.

All I can say is:

Regular Coke has got far too much sugar in.
If you feel that drinking 30%+ of your daily sugars in one can is a good plan then go for it.
The taste is still great, but I won't drink it because of the sugars.

Coke Zero is an attempt at getting the same taste but with zero sugar.
Obviously impossible as nothing can give the same flavour as the sugars.
However in my opinion they have done a very good job and it's my drink of choice.
No I'm not worried about the aditivies - I'm not paranoid.

Diet Coke (or Coke Light as it is in many European countries) is a totally different drink.
The same zero sugar as Coke Zero, but the taste is totally different.
It isn't an attempt to taske like regular coke, it's something different.
In my opinion I'll take it second behind Zero but only because again the lack of sugar.
As a drink I'm not overly keen on the taste.

Just going by what my dentist told me stop drinking sparkling water, as the carbonic acid (CO2 in water) was giving me cavities.

wasn't coke zero Coca Cola's attempt to jump onto the tails of Pepsi Max? That's the way I always saw it.

After a long relationship with the Coke brand I have recently left them for Pepsi because mrs deej says they're cheaper. The taste is growing on me.
