I have just built my son a pc for his birthday with components purchased from the Members Market etc.

Initially the pc seemed fine, but when I go into bios to change any settings, for example set the vcore for the cpu, of the memory voltage, or anything at all once I hit F10 to save and reboot, the pc will try to boot and close down about 3-4 times. Once it finally boots it's fine but doesn't keep the changes I've made.

So this means, I can't set the correct voltages for anything, or overclock the cpu.

My question is was the cold boot issue's ever resolved across the P45 chipset, am I fighting a loosing battle trying to find a fix for this?

It would help if you said which motherboard it was. I had a Asus P5Q Pro Turbo P45 board and never had any cold boot issues so it's not all boards that do it. Not a Gigabyte by any chance is it?

There were quite a few threads on here about cold booting on Gigabyte boards, not sure if any issues were resolved though.

Does it have the latest bios is the only thing i could suggest trying.
