Hi all,

I've been getting issues with cold booting. I need to cycle power several times before a post. Once posted the system is solid and even if I manage to get a little OC on to stay it is still solid - Prime95 for a few hours no probs, temps also okay.

It all began when I put a Q6600 into my system instead of an E6600. Saying that I could only get the E6600 to about 3Ghz before would not boot. I am pretty convinced the mobo is the root cause as I tried with different RAM and while not tried the CPU in a different mobo thinking it would either work or not. BIOS are the latest and I also flashed them once more after the installing the Q6600.

Specs:

Q6600 @ stock
3x1GB Corsair Value 667 C5
ASUS P5B
GTX 260 @ stock
Corsair 450 VX

Can anyone issue advice as to what I can do? I think I need a new mobo circa 2008 for all the 45nm CPUs P43/43/35/31 etc but will need to whore up a post around here to get it or any suggestions where else something like that can be had for ~£20?

You should check the voltages that are going from your PSU to the system, since it's obviously failing it's Power-On Self-Test?

What brand/watt is your PSU?

Possibly - just can'y see how it would have such problems on a power on and be rock solid on stress testing - lerk video stress test, prime 95 and defraging at the same time not problem.

Also I sometimes get choppiness in all games without apparent reason and also sometimes the OS itself becomes very slow with the cursor jiterring when moved and all the menus.
