Cold Brew Coffee

I will grab some pictures of what I am doing for those who are interested.
After 24 Hours in the brew bottle I filtered out the grounds by cutting a circle of kitchen roll and putting it in a steamer saucepan, which I left for about an hour until all the liquid had collected in the bottom saucepan. I then put this in a pyrex measuring jug in the fridge over night.
The next morning I added about 1/2 an inch of cinnamon per cup and warmed the coffee in the microwave being careful to get the coffee hot but not to get it any where near boiling. The remaining sediment that had collected at the bottom of the jug overnight was discarded.
Result - a straight black coffee that was yum - strong but with less acid bite. I like the cinnamon instead of milk or sugar in coffee.
The caffeine hit was almost immediate, an hour later and I have settled down to a steady morning buzz.

I will be completing the 48 hour brew tonight and will let you know how it goes.

If you are on a diet and trying to cut out milk and sugar - cold brew coffee plus cinnamon is a pretty epic replacement in my book.

well the hario and coffee arrived, so put it on. first iced coffee tomorrow for breakfast.

if i do like it and it becomes a daily thing, think i'll have to upgrade the burr grinder, it took surprisingly long to time to grind 90 grams.

downside is, the amount I'm likely to drink now, i might have to switch to entirely caffeine free, not sure the caffeine in a litre can be good for me. Started the morning off with a pint of the stuff and i'm sure the rest will be gone by early afternoon.

might have to try aldi range of coffee as well, to keep it cheap. Cant afford to spend £4.50 every 2 to 3 days on nice beans.

edit - now all gone.`put next lot on, this time half coffee, half chicory as i really like camp coffee.

and i absolutely need to go decaff, i'm buzzing my **** off.

omg 45g coffee to 45g chicory is absolute amazing. add a bit of stevia and a tablespoon of double cream to a pint of it. Absolutely divine. need a cheap source of chicory now.

Need to pull mine out the fridge, tried a batch with the stuff rave supply with the hario.

Definitely need some working scales though, way too hit and miss with a "14g approx" scoop.

What size are you grinding your beans too? From what I've read medium grind seems to be good for Cold brew?

Massive bump here but I can't find any other mention of this pot.

I was bought one of these (the 600ml) version for Christmas a couple of years ago and it's just sat in the cupboard ever since because the instructions are all in foreign.

I gather I fill the inner part up with ground coffee (the only ground coffee I have is for an Aeropress), fill the jar up with water and let it sit for 24 hours, either in the fridge or on a counter.

Then what? It looks like it makes about two cups of coffee, is that it? Do I just make it, pour it and drink it cold?

It seems an awful lot of coffee to use for just two cups.

I really don't understand what this is all about. Help!

PACK the filter full, then leave it for 48hrs. It will now be stronger, and you can dilute it with cold water and can make 4 to 5 cups.

How do I find out? When I asked for cold brew in starbucks they pour some from the fridge then added more cold water and ice into it, clearly theirs are more concentrated.

I didn't even know what cold brew was before 2 weeks ago. I've always preferred cold beverages over hot, and do love a good iced coffee.
Now I'm a proud owner of the Hario Skerton grinder and Hario coffee pot, and I have waiting in my fridge my batch of cold brew! I can't wait! :)
It's been about 8 hours so far and it's superrr dark in colour, almost black, is that right?

20 hours later and it was a disappointing first taste of cold brew.. :( Too bitter.. Even after diluting with water or milk.
There's not any settings on the grinder (I rotated 10 notches), so I'm wondering if the grind is too fine?

5p as reference.
