Cold called by scum

Agree to buy whatever they are selling but when you give them your card number don't read out the last digit. Act dumb and pretend you have a card wth 15 digits.

There's only 10 combinations until they find the right digit though...

no you don't.
I'm 52 and with both phone and door callers I just say "Me Mum & Dad aren't in".
I normally get a funny look at the door but so what.

I can just see you standing there saying that as one of your kids walks in and says “hello dad”.

If anyone ever calls and ask's to speak to the home owner i always tell them that they died.

I've also been known to pretend to be Jack Bauer pretending i'm talking to CTU...

"DAMMIT SANJEEV, I NEED AUTHORISATION NOW!"

I think i must be the only person that actually enjoys getting cold calls :p

lol, we just had someone cold call the office

CC: "Hi, i'm calling as someone on this number had a car crash last year and we are calling to organise a compensation claim."

Me: "Oh, and who was this?"

CC: "Sorry we cant give you their name, its confidential"

Me: "I cant see this conversation going very far"

Not sure what to say really. Bunch of idiots.....

I just got a call from an aussie bloke saying "I'm trying to raise awareness of the RSPB"
I told him he's just been successful as I'm now aware of it, so he could have a break for ten minutes.

I think its because I'm tired.

"Hi I'm from the Compensation Claims Bureau and am phoning to find out if you've had any accidents within....."

"No, but you will if you call me again"

Waves Keyboard around while roaring loudly!

We had some company phone up a few years ago after the owner of our company, we told them he was out of the country for the next few weeks and to call back then, assuming that they wouldn't bother.

Low and behold just over two weeks later they call up again but someone else picks up the phone and tells them pretty much the same thing, the person on the other end of the phone comments about the owner going on holiday a lot but agrees to phone back in 3 weeks.

We thought that would be it and they would get the hint but no, 3 weeks later she phones up again asking if the owner was back from his holidays yet, and by this point we knew who it was. We then told her that the ower has just died and we were all loosing our jobs. Amazingly she was really sympathetic and wished us good luck, she never phoned again though :D

Lately I've started to answer the phone really abruptly, it's fun continuing it when it is a cold caller..

HELLO

(their voice usualy gets all stuttery "h..hello sir is ...such and such in")

NO HE ISNT IN WHO IS THIS

(they know the answer to this so say it quite promptly and what they want)

NO WE'RE NOT INTERESTED *SLAM PHONE HANG UP*

Passive agressive? Maybe, but I like to think it's miserable enough to break their spirit just a little bit more and pushes them closer to finding a different job that isn't bothering me.

I sometimes enjoy it when they call, and I'm not doing anything.
One guy called up, and went something like this:

"Hello, I'm calling from ####, are you the home-owner?"
"No, I am not."
"Would it be possible to speak with the home owner?"
"No. Because this isn't a home."
*Hang-up*
