Looking for a new mattress and wondered if anyone had any reccomendations.

I currently have a standard double bed(190 x 135cm).

I love a cold matress as I always seem to wake up when it gets warm :( definatly prefere a hard matress.

Budget say £500 then again if you have a reccomendation that's "must have" price isn't an issue.

Please help. First time I've brought my own matress haha.

it's such an important item that you should go to a shop and try them. everyone will be different.

This definatly won't be an eBay job I fully intend on trying them out :) just there's so much choice I'd hate to settle for one in a shop when I could get reccomendations for ones to try.

snap i also hate a warm mattress, does anyone offer a "cooling" mattress?

ted equipped bed ftw

A mattress thread on here a few months back recommended a website for a good mattress company, I think they started at £500 and went up to a couple of £K
Let me know if you can't find it.

Or
Drink lots of beer and then wet the bed, provides a cooling effect.

Go and check out what feels right for you (the wrong mattress can cause all sorts of issues), then when you know an exact make and model buy it cheaper online.

You have my attention :D

Unfortunatly I have tried many mattresses already some of them felt great but it was only a short time. Laying on one and sleeping on it for the next couple of years I imagine could be a huge difference.

Cheers for the link ill try and find a place that stocks it to try out.

I found a great concept that used water pipes to control heat with a external unit to heat/chill the bed on demand but I couldn't get over the feeling of laying on the pipes :(

That wasn't the link I was thinking of

This is the one

I was really impressed with their website because they seemed open about what they were selling, what went into their mattresses and were happy to talk about the industry.

Consider a waterbed if you want to be able to control the temperature, they are surprisingly cheap now.

You should take a look at a mattress topper. I could start to feel the springs on my 18 month old mattress and adding one of these, i've still been using said mattress for 3 years now. Most of them are typically memory foam too.
