Cole - Arsenal had no respect for me

I believe wanting a person to get AIDS because he left the club you support pushing it a little.

Or, maybe it's just a culture thing ;) here in Belgium we love football as well but no way in hell we are such fanatics as you Brits are :D

It's a reference to what was said by a member (Vandle) before. ;) I don't really want to see him get AIDS. I broken leg would do me fine. ;)
The curse of leaving Arsenal has already hit Cygan, it's only a matter or time it hits that little ****

Above and beyond all of this though, is the fact that Ashley Cole is crap. Period.

I hate the man with a passion. But he certainly isn't crap. He is one of the best left backs if not the best in the world.

Tell me one match where his performance has made a difference?

Tell me one match where he has stood head and shoulders above the rest the team he is playing with?

Name one match that he got MOTM in?

What I see is a one footed, over-rated left back who dives in too early and is in the England team because of a serious lack of options in that department.

He may be a **** but he's most certainly not a crap player.

What would the point be in answering your questions, will you suddenly change your opinion on Cole's ability as a player if someone can name

1 match where his performance made a difference
1 match where he has stood head and shoulders above the rest the team he is playing with
1 match that he got MOTM in

?

Arsenal V Dynamo Kiev - 03/04

:)

I hate Cole anyway, I refuse to provide stats to prove he is anything but a complete and utter moron.

I'm hoping that this season is one of those weird things in life that can sometimes occur. That is to say after all the effort he seems to have made to upset the club that raised him and then go to a rival, I really really would love it if we end up with more trophies this season than Chelsea.

/Kevin Keegan

Though saying that I don't think we'll win any after listening to our pathetic display today on the radio. We haven't learn at all from our mistakes last season.

I see no corrilation between the two. In the end it was his love for the club, and re-assurances from Rafa and Parry which kept him a red.
It was death threats that stopped him becoming a red instead of a pink some years back.

Absolute rubbish.

hopefully the fans and the manager and everybody will agree I've repaid them a bit.

Yes, thanks for everything Ashley!

As for his performances, I thought he was easily the best player when England played Portugal in Euro2004. Had Ronaldo in his pocket for 2 hours, apart from when he was crying and went to hide on the other wing.

I agree. From where I stand Cole has been above board throughout. The Arsenal fans complaining about him strike me as nothing but sour grapes.

Hmmm

He got fined for BREAKING THE RULES.

HE GOT FINED? I bet you call criminals above board as well. Sour grapes maybe, but that is possibly one of the least thought out comments I have ever seen on these boards.

Such an incredibly foolish comment. He was fined, whe went to three courts, they all said, No you broke the rules!

I think he's handled the transfer saga quite well since it's happened, unlike the other parties:

Your whole quote comes AFTER he has got the transfer he tried to arrange himself a year ago, after he is being paid more money, and after he has been made happy!

Yes he has handled it so well he is publishing a book...? How grown up of him.

A whole book of how the club who made him what he is were against him the whole time. Wow the big Arsenal conspiracy Film i can see it now: The World Revolves Around Ashley Cole - We Will play Him In The Champions League Final Because We Hate Him!

Thats water under the bridge and he's paid his dues. Yes, he was a bit of a nobber to go behind Arsenal's back all that time ago, but this time round I don't see that he's done anything wrong. He could have done a Campbell and Arsenal would've had nothing for him. He could've done a Gallas and told Arsenal he wouldn't play for them again (and AFAIK he never said anything of the sort).

It was perfectly well thought-out. If you don't agree with anything someone says then ask further before jumping in half-cocked and looking stupid.

I can only presume you mean Chelsea because Wenger has only said good things. And what ever he says he is still a ****. A **** who likes mobile phones....
I mean Chelsea & Gallas, Chelsea for the harshness of their statement & Gallas for his gobbing off :)

I know, that's what I said, he's handled the situation well since the transfer:)

And some of you are taking G14's post the wrong way, he wants to give him AIDS ;)

"I don’t think I got respected or held in as high regard as I thought I deserved at Arsenal."
I'm sorry, but that's utter nonsense. Before the Chelsea meeting, Ashley Cole was a club hero, loved by the fans for being (supposedly) an Arsenal man through-and-through. He was up there with the likes of Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira for the fans' favourite player. Read posts or Arsenal websites from two years ago, and you'll see how much the fans loved him. He was a consistent performer for us, rarely having a poor game, even when the rest of the team were. The fact I was still hoping he'd stay before the end of the transfer window, after all the **** he's come out with, and all the hatred by nearly every other Arsenal fan, is testament to how much respect the guy had in reserve with me after his many great years with us.

Then the tapping-up scandal broke, and suprisingly, the fans were upset. Cole said he'd never play for us again, "not even for £200,000 a week". But he did. He kept on getting picked (when not injured), and he kept on playing, and he even seemed to play well, with his teammates having no apparent trouble with him. So most of us were confused, annoyed at Cole for wanting to leave us all so suddenly, purely for the sake of an extra 20k a week, but then pleased that he had seemingly decided to stay, and was still putting his heart into the games he played. And eventually, after a year, and a new contract, a passed transfer window and no movement, and many more games, people began to forgive him. The nonsense seemed behind him, and he looked like he just wanted to get on with things. Maybe we still didn't respect him as much as we once did, but we began to wonder if maybe it had all been his agent's doing, and young Ash was blameless in most of this. I honestly think if he'd chosen to shut up and stay with Arsenal, even at this point, he'd have made it back to club legend status eventually. We forgave Vieira, and he seemingly wanted to leg it every summer.

But no. Get him to the summer again, and Ashley Cole is apparently unhappy with being almost-forgiven by the fans, still respected by his teammates, and still being a constant first choice for a manager who wanted to ignore the issue and move on. He wants out, again. But not for money, oh no. Apparently we never, ever, at all, ever respected him. None of us.

******** we didn't.

Don't think i looked stupid at all.

Putting the phrase "above board" and Ashley Cole and his transfer together are ridiculous.

It is a fairly simple thing. Lat year he was caught red handed. He was fined. After that he was under scrutiny, as was any possible transfer of him. He therefore had no choice but to "be above board" after last years incident occurred.

The way you say he was above board is to give him credit for his actions. The truth is it was not his choice to act this way he could do nothing else. As for "doing a Gallas " (allegedly) he got Arsene Wenger to promise that he would be sold. Ther was NO NEED for him to worry, he knew BEFORE the World Cup he would be off somewhere.

Ashley Cole acted badly last summer, and had no choice but to act within the rules oin this occassion. He got his manager to promise him he could leave. And he wrote a book bad-mouthing the club that made him.

I hardly think he's a good role model, and neither will i ever think he is "above board"

Look on any website covering this story and you don't see many people standing up for Ashley Cole over this whole transfer. Is everyone an Arsenal fan these days?

I do. You called me foolish without any understanding of what I was saying. Why do I need to be an Arsenal fan to have an opinion?

This Comment: "Look on any website covering this story and you don't see many people standing up for Ashley Cole over this whole transfer. Is everyone an Arsenal fan these days?"

Was in reference to your comment that Arsenal fans appear to have sour grapes, and you think he's been clean as a whistle.

If you look at any football website directly following his transfer you will find they were not sharing the same view as you. Cashley Cole for example. And THEY (as in the jornalists on the websites) are not Arsenal fans. They do not have sour grapes. They just did not respect Ashley Cole.

i hope that explains my point in enough detail.

And as for me saying your comment was badly thought out, i stand by it. Explain yourself if you still think you are correct. I have explained, very simply, that someone who's behaviour was initially awful, was then punished, and then acts within the law is not someone who is above board. Rather a person who if they had their own way would have not acted within the rules. Therefore there is nothing to compliment him over.

Isn't he saying BY Arsenal rather than by fans?
Even then though, as I said, the players stuck by him, the manager stuck by him, the chairman even gave him part of the payrise he so desperately wanted. Given all that, I don't see how he can claim he was so frozen out of everything.
Did Thierry and the lads no longer sit next to him during lunch break? Did Arsene blank him every time they passed in the corridor? Did David Dein and PHW mutter things and point at him when they thought he wasn't looking? Did he get left of the official christmas card list? Somehow I doubt it.

So what does he mean by not being held in as high a regard as he thinks he deserved?

Could it perhaps be that he thought he wasn't being paid as much as he "deserved"? Because that's all I can work it out to be, and I'm sorry Ashley, but that's all about the money then. News flash: Defenders aren't paid as much as strikers. Never have been, never will be. That's football's problem, not Arsenal's. We paid you a lot, Chelsea paid you more. Plain and simple.

Rossyl: Where did I compliment him? As far as I'm concerned everything he's done this summer has been as it should have been. if it wasn't, why isn't he being investigated and possibly fined again? Thats not a compliment, thats an opinion on the saga of this summer. He's been punished for what he did before, so why would I be on about that? Its fairly obvious that if I say I think he's been above board that I don't mean the periods after which he was found guilty for not being above board

Anyway, it doesn't matter now as he's happy with his new special friends & Frankie is such a tease :o
