Thought this probably fit better in here than in the Windows subforum :)

I'm essentially looking for a collection / asset management solution for a rather too large (and valuable!) model collection, and assorted stuff (books, tools, spares etc.) which goes with it.
At the minute, I've got a somewhat inadequate Excel spreadsheet, but this is failing miserably at large textual fields, or associating an image with a record. It's also irritating me no end by 'helpfully' deciding that the contents of certain cells should be formatted as numbers (Whilst numeric, they're definitely textual and *must* preserve the formatting.....)

I'm somewhat struggling at the minute to find anything decent.
There's a lot of utter dross aimed at the home / collectors markets, and I'm certain this must be a common enough business need for there to be something out there.
Internet searches aren't much help at the minute, far too much advert spam in this category :(

What I need:
Abilility to create approx 10 - 20 classes of item, each with a specific set of custom fields attached.
The ability to list said items, and sort by any field. (Cost, name etc. etc.)
Adding an image to a record.

What I'd quite like:
The ability to assign an item a manufacturer, and then assign metadata to this.
Reporting functionality, total value etc. etc.
Free / cheap- Happy to pay for something, but not extortionate rates.
