Bit of a wet Saturday afternoon topic. What are peoples thoughts on the subject of future collector items? Or any stories of random stuff you've found that had value. Some of the valuable collector stuff just seems kinda nuts to me, for example the first gen Pentium CPUs. Anyone made any purchases in the hope that 20/25yrs or more, may give them a better return on their money?

I'm just going through random bits that were boxed up from a house move that never really got sorted out, and it's making me think about cashing in on some (now collectors) items that i can't see gain any further value, but also got me thinking if some current items are worth holding onto. I've seen some games/CDs gain value, then have crashed. I've also managed to sell some bicycle parts that i've used a lot, and still get back more than i paid for them due to becoming collector items.

Chap at work decided to buy a 2005 Audi TT, very good condition with low miles for a good price in the hope he can gain some value from it in years to come, after it's been stored in his garage for a decade plus. Personally can't see it myself, moreso the issue of losing an entire garage to do it.

Mini disc player was the last one that surprised me. Lol at all the folk that thought Guinness World Record Books would become valuable.

I have a collection of old Pokémon cards base set from back in the day worth a pretty penny now. Will hang on to them in hope they further go up in price , also have invested in some newer cards which hopefully will gain value too

For things become valuable they need to become rare and/or need to be kept in really good condition.

My Dad always thought he had a very rare record which was Move It by Cliff Richard and The Drifters, that was his original backing bands name before changing it to The Shadows.
During the early 00s he tried to sell it and the record dealer said "This is over a million seller mate, you'll be lucky to get 50p" :)

Crisp packets from the 1970's have increased in value. Especially Tudor curry flavour which are now worth £150+ for a pristine condition packet. I'm convinced the things to start collecting now are toenails or pizza boxes. Yours faithfully the sage of oc.

I own a 1980s video game system (Vectrex) which is in good working condition and worth a few 100 now. Popular common sports cars today are good candidates to be collectable in 30 years time.

I bet anything first gen that's still going is worth a lot.
Like phones and game boys. Pokemon cards are crazy from that very original set.
If you've still got your virginity at 40.that might be worth a few bob.
