Anybody who is doing A-Level exams in the next few weeks, anyone who is confident of getting required grades for uni?
Except Zefan and Chris1712 who have pratically given up on College. Im amazed whenever Zefan comes to a computing lesson....

Basically im Bricking myself about getting 3B's or AAB for Cardiff or Bristol Respectively.... Gah

Im doing my AS's and i dont think i stand a chance of passing.

Nevermind, Failure is progression

Oh great, I've been humiliated again :p

You'll be fine, you've always got decent grades in the past and you will now :)

I didnt doo too bad in AS's but I've gone downhill in the last year... Girlfriend, Online gaming and Pub kills me I think....

My situation is slightly different. I took Geography as an AS and aimed to progress it into A2 - to be my main A-Level alongside English Language. Things went a bit wrong when i realised i had taken the wrong A-Levels and i failed Geography by a few marks. Not entirely happy with that, Geography turned out to be a harder course than expected (I was getting As and Bs in GCSE but hey, that was just GCSE).

So i'm actually staying for a third year taking the A-Levels i really should have taken. Still going to the Prom etc, just means i go to another one next year.

Kind of off topic - with regards to your UCAS, was it all very organised in your school? For us it wasn't, we were informed in an assembly that we should have done certain things by now and everyone practically fainted, bit of a rush etc.

Erm we had to apply on the website ourselves but our tutors kept reminding us and telling us what to do.. and giving us butt loads of leaflets to look at..
The finance stuff we had to get ourselves though, the forms for that must have been 100000 pages....

If i get 300 points (3 B's or equivilant) and get into Cardiff I'll be happy. Also since Cardiff is only £1200 for the first year... :-D
Anyway I reckon I must brave the rain to catch a bus to Meg's now, (Rofl Tool).

i found the exams profoundly easy, then again i was doing english language, ict, maths and business and economics, apart from - they're all easyyy!

YAWN!!

I've only given up because its not worth me trying, if i pass my btec course ("Its worth 3 A-levels, honest" :( ) I'll get a whopping 120 ucas points. :o . UCAS was handled horrifically by my college, it was all loaded on us in like 2 weeks and we didnt know wtf to do, is this uni good? Is this course good? and so on.

Basically i would like to go to uni as an experience, but i cba with education anymore i want to go and learn some real things in industry.

Just wish i'd done three a-levels instead.

lol.. at least you got the diploma

i applied for a nat diploma (3alevels)

turned out a couple of month down the track.."oh by the way.. its a nat cert now (2alevels)"

oh well... i may get a DM.. which is only 200points. inst like a MMM diploma?.. or does the MMM get you 746points :p...for doing basically naff all

the UCAS in my school was really good, well organised loads of time to do it etc, plenty info about unis and the head of sixth form is always about to help if i had a problem! just gotta get my 220 UCAS points to get my place in UCE Birmingham to do Info Comms!! thats basically CCD! but im doing physics math and economics so its a nightmare!!! :D

no one really explained about ucas to us... no info at all has been given out about uni's... money.. or accomodation.. i did all that myself by phoning the uni up.. felt like a right idiot asking all these silly questions.

If you start in wales next year it will be "old" tuition fees for you whole stay.

omg, its called research/self reliance...

you can get info off the net.. UCAS is just the admissions system.. its not up to the school to advise you on these kinds of things, you have to learn not to be so spoon fed :/

We have it all explained to us if we need to... most people know what kind of uni they will apply for anyway (I'm in lower 6th). We've had talks about UCAS and that kind of stuff, although I already knew what I wanted to do - go to Cambridge for Uni if I get an offer. However if I don't get that offer then I'm gonna have to fall back on one of the 'oxbridge-reject' unis... Thats the bit where it gets sticky for me because I know what course I want to do at Cambridge but I have no idea what course I want to apply for at any other uni as they don't offer the same things. It's 25% computer science, transferring to Natural Sciences after the first year btw, if anyone has any hint on what this might be the equivalent of in another uni then that would be awesome.

hmm...

i think we should have had a little more guidance that we got... but nevermind.

i did my "research".. and i was self "reliant" enough to sort it out... i wasnt going to sit like a potato until somebody told me what to do

I think i'm going to be alright, I only need CCC for my first choice (Leeds College of Music), I'm currently doing Alevels in English Language, Psychology and Music.

Only need 2 C's on the final 2 English papers to get an A, i'm going to get a B in music at least but should get an A hopefully and probably a C for psychology XD

Haven't started revising yet though :o
