Cologne, Germany.

Morning all,

I'm off to Amsterdam in December with some friends and found out last night we are going to spend a night in Cologne, Germany for the beer festival.

I've been to Amsterdam before so know what to expect there but not been to Cologne or Germany.

Anyone been to the beer festivals in Cologne before? What should I expect besides getting bladdered on nasty local german beer?

The German beer is amazing, I'd make the most of it before paying £4.50 a pint in Amsterdam.

Cologne is a nice place, the cathedral when you come out of the train station is spectacular. It might be a bit grim in December for sitting out, but there's plenty of decent places to eat and drink down by the river.

Ah yes, the over inflated price of beer in Amsterdam. We will be paying that before going to Cologne.

The plan is, fly to Amsterdam on the Thursday, jump on the train to Cologne on Saturday and fly back from there Sunday.
