Thinking of grabbing one of these soon. Don't really do any professional work, just mainly for better colours generally and for gaming.

Will likely just use DisplayCal so the more powerful software the pro comes with may not be that beneficial. Would not mind trying to calibrate my TV's if possible, can DisplayCal do this?

My main concern if both these devices seem like they have been out for a long time and may be due a refresh. We have OLED and HDR coming shortly. Will these devices be out of date in a years time when they become available or do the devices get firmware updates or something? In which case maybe better to get the cheaper Colormunki Display?

Any advice would be much appreciated :D

Thank you for the detailed answer Baddass.

I am thinking maybe to just get the Colormunki Display for now, as I am not sure that the Pro will offer anything extra that I would need. Saving the extra cost I can always get something better in 2 years time.

Here is a post I read in the Dell S2716DG thread which got me wondering if I could benefit doing something similar on a Asus MG279Q.

If games support reshade then use a 3dlut that would have been calibrated from the .icc profile. I use Displaycalgui to manage and lock my profiles to games so it doesn't reset the gamma. It's like cpkeeper but built into the calibration software that I use.

The difference it makes to games is amazing and better than sweetfx profiles as it keeps everything natural and not oversaturated.

Does anyone do something similar to this? Can anyone elaborate?
