hi.

colour.png

on my 27" monitor it defaults to YCbCr 4-4-4, is this right? i've tryed RGB 4-4-4 but the picture looks crap.

what monitor do u have?

on my Hannspree monitor it defaults to RGB full but on my Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS 27" it defaults to YCbCr 4-4-4, setting it to RGB full makes to looks washed out and the blacks are light gray.

Here's what I found on it: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=15062217#post15062217. LCD monitors work with RGB values, so the Full RGB setting should have the best image quality, the information on Limited RGB complicates stuff somewhat though.

Of course, if YCbCr looks better I'd use that. I wouldn't worry about the unnecessary conversions it may introduce; although information is lost in the conversion, it is very little. As for why it's the case, it may be settings in the monitor causing it to use a smaller colour space when RGB is used.

full RGB on a monitor, adjust the brightness and contrast to suit
i tryed that but it still looks washed out and the blacks are light gray. on YCbCr 4-4-4 the blacks are deep and the image is colourful.

i've tryed every setting on the monitor but it's still the same.

I think he's a spammer or something. Not a very good one though? His comments always confuse me. Like yesterday he said something about getting my facts straight but failed to explain what he meant.
