Whats the cheapest to run colour printer to go with? Seen some cheapo 50 quid ones but ink costs almost as much as the printer so no point in that.

Definitely a small laser. The ink doesn't dry out, so ends up costing much less in the long run. Not really suitable for printing photos, but ideal for homework etc.

I have 2 x Canon G3410 printers, They are inkjet, but unlike the majority of inkjet printers, they have ink tanks, which you refill from a bottle. Epsom also do a popular one I think.

They are much cheaper to run than most colour inkjets and more environmentally friendly. You don't replace the print head, just the ink.

Have a look, from memory I get about 14000 pages of black and colour mix before I have to refill, and the original ink refill bottles (black and CMY) are currently available as a set online for 38.59, not bad for a further 14000 pages.

I have had no issues with them at all, and the print quality is good.

I've got a Canon TS5051 I got from Currys for about £50. The official ink is upwards of £50 for a full set, but I buy compatible stuff from eBay, which has performed fine: £10 for TWO full sets last time I bought.

to find a cheap-to-run colour printer is to look for one with a high-yield ink cartridge. This means that the printer will use less ink per page, so you won't have to replace the cartridges as often
