Colour scheme advice

I'm designing a website for a school, and I'm at the stage of choosing an appropriate colour scheme. The school badge colours are blue (a dark shade) and red.

I've incorporated these colours into a design, as attached. I have the idea on paper I just need to decide on colours to use - especially for the main content area.

I personally think a pale colour tint will look good here, especially for the school images, and text which I'll want to incorporate.

personally id got for a lighter background, probably white, this way the school badge will stand out more. if you stick a red and blue logo on a red and blue page, then its just going to blend in. White background with the red and blue logo on top will stand out more.
