Ive had this message after playing bf3 a couple of times and I was just wanted to know if its possibly a lack of power from psu to gpu or if its something else causing it.

The games I play perform perfectly fine its when I quit the game the message pops up.

It reads something like "desktop colour scheme changed to 16bit, apply or discard". I can't remember exact wording.

Gpu gtx 680 and 850w psu

Thanks

Its a SStone 850W PFC PSU QuadSLi, I can get more info off it later if needed.

I don't recall it happening on previous drivers.

I get this sometimes. It's just windows detecting low video memory available and suggesting disabling Aero. i wouldn't worry about it.
Used to get this on my 1.28gb gtx 470's upon exiting bf3, (vram use was almost maxed out running it). Havent had it yet on my gtx 670.

Not sure it is just a low Vram issue tbh, I got this message today after a session on metro 2033 and I am using a 3gb gtx580 phantom and afterburner shows a max usage of just over 1gb of Vram usage. It would be nice to get some clarification on this though as it bug`s the life out of me and this is not the first card that this has happened with.

12gb of system ram here. Windows 7 home premium 64. Aero set to disable when i launch any games.

No probs for you then setter with that ram, was just reading on microsoft site that some background progs can use a lot, 2 of which were mentioned were daemon tools and nod32, possible driver issue was also mentioned. I was on 7ultimate with 8gig and 1gig 280gtx and never had a problem and aero left on.

Do these current gpus downgrade themselves if they dont have enough power going to them?? I seem to recall my old 6800 ultra lowering its power as my psu at the time wasn't adequate so I had to upgrade.

Thing is im looking at getting another 680 when the prices drop a bit. I was sure my psu was more than capable to handle 2.

A quality 850w psu should be fine with gtx 680's in sli, theese newer nvidia cards are a lot less power hungry than the previous generations. Prior to my 670 i was running gtx 470's (oc'd), total power draw at the wall even with two of those leccy lovers was 630w when gaming, 740w when running furmark.
