For most of my life I've been slim, but since hitting 40 about 18 months ago I've started putting weight on, and have now develped a bit of a gut. This is probably partly due to stopping Karate which I used to do two or three times a week but had to stop for family reasons.
I joined a gym back in December, but I don't know the best way to get my stomach back under control - I'm not looking for a six pack at my age, just to lose some excess flab . Any suggestions from you experts out there ?

Find a new physical activity, aside from burning calories whilst doing it exercise boosts your metabolism which will help keep flab off.

There's probably a wealth of cardio machines at your gym, go a few times a week and do whatever you fancy, try and beat your previous times, alternate short intense sessions with slower paced ones.

There's really no need to think about structured routines or anything, just come up with something you'll stick to.
