I want to create a bootable usb environment for removing/cleaning viruses on windows partitions.

I've found Combofix to be a really good useful tool for this, but obviously it only works from within Windows, is there a similar tool for Linux?

No need, you won't install a virus on Linux unless you personally grant it root access (your root password on demand).
You could potentially install a Windows virus by running Wine as root and installing an infected program, but then you have to be really stupid to actually do that.

Did you read the question?

Malware doesn't need root.

He never mentioned malware.

No need to be so rude, you can just mention that I mistook the question, quite an easy mistake to make really since his last words were "FOR Linux".

I'm not sure that Combofix or a similar tool could work on an installed Windows OS from another OS, Windows based or Linux. It needs access to the registry for one, and I'm not sure that there's any way to mount/access that from Linux.

Yeah the question wasn't phrased very well so apologies for that.

I meant for a bootable Linux environment tool that could scan a Windows partition for viruses, and lets add malware into that. I hadn't thought about the registry problem as JRS mentioned above.

Theres loads, you can use a program like SARDU to create you a multiboot usb drive with loads on.

It will even download them for you: http://www.sarducd.it/rescue-cd-antivirus

Click the screenshot to see what it supports.

Edit: just to add SARDU is great and will get you going but if you want to create the ultimate boot usb drive RMprepUSB with easy2boot is the best solution, just takes a little more to setup.

I Created a Multiboot ISO USB using xboot i added the following ISO'S to the USB.

Memtest86: Memory Diagnostic Tool.
Seatools: HD Diagnostic Tool.
GParted: Partition Management.
Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10: scan, disinfect and restore infected operating systems.
Bit defender Rescue Disk: scan your computer for viruses same as kaspersky basically.
Trinity Rescue: Reset windows passwords, rootkit detection etc etc.

Could also use SARDU, YUMI, to make a USB recovery software.

Edit looks like it's for windows only.

MultiSystem does the job.
