Come back off Hols and PC won't boot. No Post, just on then off.

Tried paperclip test on PSU and it fires up.

The fact one of the ground wires is missing must be normal. Theres no way something would have cut it at both ends. Yet upon googling I can't seem to find any mention of some PSU's lacking that particular pin.

The capacitor on mobo, well I've emptied the case and I can't find a capacitor anywhere, which is suspicious.. surely if it fell off it would be in the case somewhere? Could a mobo run without a cap ?
 
any update on this?

idk whats happened tbh does seem strange for no cap and cut/missing wires (it should use all 24 pins/wires) but would run with just the 20 pin plug plugged in did you try that?
 
With new mobo I first got debug code 51(or was it 15) and it would boot loop. But then with RAM in it was fine. Installed everything, even saw Windows.

Then reseated the RAM as it wasn't dual channel and it won't boot again. Debug code 15. I've taken RAM out and moved it about, same problem. :( Don't know if it's me or what!

Inspecting the mobo it looks like some of the pins on one of the RAM slots I used when I reseated the ram look a bit suspicious.. Is this a new issue? I wouldn't expect this from a mobo I just bought, although it was B grade.. 80quid down the drain??

A messed up power button wouldn't do this would it? The button sticks sometimes, i've fiddled with it and it seems to be normal though.

is it me or is there no mem in the slots ??? which explains why it wont tun on ?
 
Yeah, well It was showing the strange loop it was in. It did the same thing with memory in.

No worries now, I have a new mobo and CPU :)
