only RPG game i have liked it KOTOR. Any KOTOR players like Oblivion?

Yup, me. I love Kotor, and I love Oblivion, but you have to understand they're quite different in their approach to the genre, so liking one doesn't automatically mean you'll like the other. Kotor is a 3rd person RPG with pseudo-turn based combat based on stats, and fairly linear (yes there are numerous side quests, but the main storyline forces the story along), while Oblivion is a first pers RPG, with real-time collision based combat, and completely non-linear (you can play the game for 50 hours and not even touch the main storyline).

I do feel it's a game that needs to be played and experienced, just so you can find out whether you like it or not.

I haven't bought a new game since... erm... I think Quake4! Anywho, this looks different to what I usually play so just how good is it? Does it have the ability to play for hours on end and not get bored? Is it immersive?

Sell it to me! I keep looking at the screenies and it does look nice, I'm just dubious about the game-play.

Thanks all!!!

Perhaps you could read the 69 page thread detailing everything and anything to do with the game?!

Ta, after i complete KOTOR 2, will give it a go (once i have upgraded my PC)

Opteron/2GB/7600GT should manage it?

I thought the game sucked, it bored the hell out of me! Maybe i'm just wierd? :)

Yes you are! :p

It is an excellent game. Even if you find it boring to start off with just keep at it a bit longer until you do your first quest.

I havn't even touched the storyline yet. (about 12 hours in)

The amount of things you can do is pretty much endless.

Word of warning - Don't attack guards, they really don't like it. lol. (had to revert back to a older save after I hit the wrong button on my 360 and gave one a good wack)

Well... the day my housemate bought this he got up at mid-day, started playing, was still playing when i went out at 7pm, still playing when I came back in (swaying slightly) at 2am. I went to bed, woke up wander into work help with some desks being moved at about 8am and he still hadnt moved.
I've since done similar :)
Considering theres not really much of a "cap" (least not that i've been made aware of) you can keep going for quite a while. The monsters seem to get harder according to your level so your constantly challenged and constantly getting better equipment.
I've not logged into WoW since I got this.... :D

The game and the genre didn't appeal to me at all when i'd seen posts about it, but i thought what the hell and got it. I can tell you now, i have no idea why i was thinking what i was, this game is quite simply amazing.

I know im in the minority here but I just dont like it. Im not a fan of the genre anyway and didnt like morrow wind at all. but after all the hype i thought i would give it a go.

Really wanted it for the 360 rather then the pc but as I was unsure about it and the pc version being so much cheaper I went for that.

Played it for a few hours now and im just finding it dull to be honest. granted the graphics in some places are really nice but in others they are far from great, some of the charecters faces are appaling.

please dont flame me here as its just my opinion but if these type of games are not normally your bag then i would defo try before you buy.

make your own mind up and dont believe the hype

With this new ATi patch for HDR+AA now it's quite simply the best looking game i've seen too :o

!!!!!!!!! when did this happen and where can i get it from!!!!!

Anyway back On Topic. This is simply the best single player game i have played in years. Currently i have got about 35 hours played and have only done 2 bits of the main quest. There is so much you can do and you arent forced into any one area. If you are a melee char and you fancy trying out some magic spells you can. If you want to go on a killing spree and kill everyone in a town you can (though i wouldnt recommend it :) ).

I made a couple of short fraps videos last night just for fun and to show one of my mates what it looks like. The videos really do do any justice to just how amazing this game looks.

Demo of the HDR lighting, shows just how pretty this game looks.

Well at least you tried and you've found that you don't enjoy which is fair enough and i respect that.

However, even if your not a fan of the genre, i would encourage to you to try it because it really isn't a straight rpg. It's got the ethos of an rpg yet it has gone away from the turn based combat, and turned into a realtime collision combat system, that i think many FPS or adventure fans would enjoy. I'm not really a big fan of the genre either but i like action rpg. (the last rpg type game i got into was dungeon siege)

I enjoyed morrowind more but that maybe cos its early days for my char and I just aint god like yet. Nothing like a fully leveled battle wizard on morrowind, nothing stands against you.
