Comet sale TODAY 9AM

Went in today, store was empty. Tumble weeds hanging around the hdmi cables though. Must have ramped up the discounts this morning as one of the customers was on about thus blu-ray player his brother bought for £10.....he wanted to know when they were coming back in stock xD

The liquidators are probably trying to play it smart....

By announcing a sale at a large company that has gone into administration which is in the headlines makes people naturally think of a fire sale. Ironically you now have more people through the doors of Comet than at any other time. With the prices still high, you will still get an increase of sales through people coming through the doors. Not everyone is savvy and some will still think they are getting a discount or will buy something because they went there.

Once that has blown over, they can begin to drop prices slowly, but still the big ticket items are never going to drop drastically.

Was in the Coventry branch earlier

10% off software / pc's / white goods (managed to get a discount on windows 8 and yes I know you can download it for even less)

15% off Bose

20% off irons / blenders and alike

30% off cables

Can't say it had the pulse racing with those savings, however I was out to get a copy of windows and strangely enough a blender. ;)

So, windows 8; will it blend?

I was thinking of popping in to the local one in a bit.....any point? (it is quite a bit out of my way)

My mum has been after a new tumble dryer for a while. Though tbh, I wouldn't no a good deal on one anyway!

Don't bother, not yet. 10-20% off can be had pretty much anywhere at some point or another. With there inflated prices its still not a great price.

I just popped down, and all that's left are laptop cases, cordless phones and tellies really. No increase in discount, and most prices are indeed still more expensive than you can find without discount online.

Ah well. Maybe worth popping back each morning as somebody else mentioned.

Just been into the Comet here whilst getting an ink cartridge from Argos. No particularly good deals there, YouView box I saw someone else mention was £280 or £290 with 30% off so that's not bad, most other things were still as expensive as ever or at best, the same price as anywhere else. Had a look at the powerline networking kits as I'm after one of those, but even after discount I can get the same one on Amazon for a few pounds less.

Amusingly the ink cartridge I got from Argos for £8 was about £12 there.

Popped my head back in the local one last week, no change other than a few of the freeview HD boxes had gone lol

Wanting an upright larder fridge and new oven, still measly discounts which puts them more expensive than other places.

The Derby store still had iPads and quite a few other tablets earlier on this week. I would have though they would have been the first things to go.
