Could a Saab turbo tick those boxes ?

Don't think so, if I come accross one though I might have a look.

Been out in the Fabia, wasn't really that impressed. Although I was made an interesting offer, I'm not sure if I like the way it drives though.

Just been out for a test drive in an '01 Celica (140). Quite nice, revy and quick - but not what I would call fast (not really a problem though). Much more fun round bends than my current french boat. Had a go on a dual carridge way as well and it wasn't too bad at cruising. Gearbox is a short shift 6 speed, and I wasn't overly impressed with it really, might just have been the car or the fact I've never used one like it before. Brakes were very vaugue though, but that was probably just the car.....

The brakes sound a bit iffy. Shouldn't be vague on a car like that.

5k for an 01 celica?

When I looked at them, it was about 8k for a decent 99 one ...

No, this one was 10k from a Toyota dealer, it was the only one within about 50 miles at a dealer.

Prices for a reasonable 99-00 one seem to be about £6k+

Cheers, I'll bear it in mind :p

I've just found an MX5 specialist about 20 miles away, I might have a trip there tomorrow and have a drive of some early ones (see option 2).
