That's what I'm thinking. Whilst I appreciate a lot of the fantastic suggestions, a lot of them I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing at work, in my suit in a customer facing position.
I don't get it. Is there a reason they can't just put a trainer sole on a nice pair of shoes?
Are you a Girl? Perhaps your customers might have more respect for somebody who is not willing to compromise their health and well being in the name of fashion.

On a more serious note. the type of leather and the design of the uppers on traditional "Smart" shoes is probably not going to be flexible enough to be used with a trainer type sole.
They would probably end up cracking or pulling away in fairly short order.
That is why shoes with trainer style soles will have moccasin type uppers which are much softer and more flexible.
