How do I go about getting one?
All mobos now days don't have a comm port but I have an A4 Wacom tablet which I would like to use. Can you get something to convert it to USB or do I get a card to fit in a Pci express slot??

Also my Electrical tester meter can only update (firmware) via RS232.

You can get USB to RS232 adaptors but they dont always work very well. I wouldnt try updating the firmware of anything through one.

I know its not much use to you but I keep an old IBM laptop purely because it has a serial port!

You can get PCI serial card I think.

usb to serial leads work quite well but you can have a few teething problems with certain hardware.

We have a few at work to enable us to use "older" stuff with our new modern computers without serial ports.

One is a dial up modem for the bank as they still only have dial up online banking  and the other is for programming abs/ebs on trucks and the system only comes with a serial connector with security dongle built in. We could buy their new usb version but it would cost us several hundred pounds.

ANyway, they are quite cheap so worth a punt.
