I am am looking to purchase Command & Conquer: Generals and Im lazy,
can't be bothered to wait for deliverys, was just wondering if anybody has seen
it on a game distribution client / program.

Not on: Steam or EA download store.

Doubtfull, it's an old, old game now.. get it from Play.. you'll have it in a day..

I have both generals and zero hour installed and working fine on vista x64 me and my mates were playing just yesterday using direct connect.

Worked fine for me in Vista x64 too. Although i beleive i had to manually create the settings.inf file (or something like that) to get it to launch as the game wouldnt do it automatically. After that run perfectly.

Mine works in Windows 7 x64.

Best bet is to get it as part of The First Decade. That way you get support for newer operating systems.

I can confirm the non first decade copies of generals and zero hour work fine on my vista and windows 7 x64 builds.

The originals are a pain to get working to Vista - however if you do a web search you'll find some posts on how to get them working. Buying the first decade which has been optimized for new operating systems is a much much better bet though.............

Cheers for the heads up about first decade, can grab it for a fiver with free delivery :)

Cheaper than buying them singularly.

anyone have any problems having games between vista/win7 machines and XP machines?
Turned out a few of us used to play generals, so we decided to lan it up on laptops, problem is the vista/win7 machines can all play together fine, but if the XP systems join it mismatches... though the XP machines can play against each other fine.

Are all the ports forwarded correctly???

ZH is a better game than generals but a few bugs and imbalances :)

Superweapons General for example... Altho I love the Aurora Alpha Bombers! Got to love the explosion from them!

doesnt seem to need anything forwarding, since the vistas/7s can play with each other.. and the xps can too. We're all set to different ports in the options menu.

The first decade was some thing like £7.49 in GAME during the january sales..... Not sure if it is still at that price.

Generals is £5 here:

Eeek apparently the place is a supposed to be a competitor, but you can always search for the deal yourself...........
