Command & Conquer Red Alert Free

awesome for all those who've lost their discs like myself xD
i think every single person must have already bought this game in their life aswell so nice move by ea recognising it wont cost them anything. and if they havnt got this game, what are they playing at download it now!
 
as i read this i went into my dusty storage cupboard to hunt it down. Only to realise that i leant it to my brother a long time ago, and knowing him its probably under a hot cup of coffee as i type.

Will have to wait for the download now.

Getting good speed off the EU server - around 1600k/s.


edit: looks like it is based in London which helps :)
 
I just found my old discs (and aftermath!!) Does it work in WinXP? Or does the download include some modification to allow it to work on XP?

Ok I tried it and it says it only works in windows 95, if you use the DOS installer, it won't let me enter a backslash so I can't change install directory :(

The playstation version was better - Red alert - retaliation. had the ant missions and extra units like missile subs
 
I got slated for this in the C&C thread but I still don't see why they don't crack it for us so we don't have to bother with this "burning to disk" rubbish.

Why not just combine the installers and let it install from HDD to HDD?

It just seems a bit silly.
