I thought about this game the other day as it's by far the best C&C and EA have ruined (as the do with all games) the series since buying it from Westwood.

Firstly dose anyone know where I can get a copy as I seem to have lost mine. Secondly what are the chances of getting it to run on Vista 64, or would it just be best to set up a virtual machine?

I have a vague half-memory that its been made free to download somewhere, but that might be a different game completely, so thats not much help.

Otherwise, the copy that I got with my 10th anniversary box set worked fine in XP.

PK!

I think you'll struggle to get the original working in Vista x64, but the (updated) version on the 10th Anniversary DVD works fine.

It's only a tenner as well if you know where to look.

I actually thought the Generals series to be the best installment so far :)
It was okish I suppose, but it was far, far too easy. Plus I don't like the "super weapons", they just ruin it.

Haven't tried it on Vista x64, but it works fine in x86 under Win95 compatibility.
Thanks Crowze that's great.
Free to download version wont work on Vista64.
I'll try running it under vmware, otherwise might be worth installing dual boot XP.

Looks like I've got my weeks entertainment sorted :D

It's certainly got the best storyline, the cutscenes are just awesome. However, the construction interface has improved by miles, it was so annoying having to scroll through everything!

PK!

Played and completed this on the Sega Saturn, the thought of playing a game like that again without a mouse

Ranks joint 1st as my best game ever along with Panzer Dragoon Saga.

still got the big box original C&C in the cupboard with the expansion :D

me too up in the attic... was the first real experience of hooking two PC's up using a serial cable and playing until the birds told us it really was time to go to bed ;)

there were 9 of us in a huge flat, and we had a rota system going for this one game.

LOLOLOL the good old days, i still remember my mate at college when i was 17, his old chap was a computer tech and they had 8 network pc's in their house.

The endless afternoons/evenings/nights of everyone bundling round his for chinese and beer with Heavy Gear 2, Starcraft and C&C :D

P.S just found big box Red Alert with expansions too hehe
