Welcome to the forums. It should be fine although you may need to update the BIOS on your motherboard

Get the latest bios before you swap out the E6300. Use EZFlash (alt + F2 on bootup) to flash the bios. Do not under any circumstances use the Asus windows software updater!!!!

DOH! wish I had read this last night!

all saved though thanks to the BIOS recovery tool!
