All of the x38 motherboards support x2 PCIE x16 lanes

They all support cross fire but not Sli

Which x38 board would you consider and what is your motherboard budget out of interest

I only really want to go with gigabyte for a mobo. The ASUS x38 boards are way too expensive for what you get.

Wow. Lots of info here. So I think I will go for the Abit IP35 PRO MB and the Q6600

Can anyone suggest some good memory to go with this.. looking at 4gb. nothing too expensive.

Cheers for all your comments so far.. given me a lot to read and look at. :)

I just got the IP35 Pro on Friday and it's a great motherboard. Booted this brand new E2180 @ 3.2Ghz first time at 1.3v and been running fine since. I've tried 3.6Ghz but it was no go for now. I haven't tried too long though.

Go for the Geil ULL RAM. I opted for that myself and it's been great so far. I was going to get the OCZ stuff but a few people told me to just go for this. I don't think you could make a wrong choice between the two really. The Geil has slightly tighter timings too.

OK. based on what you guys have said (thanks for your input) I am going to order the following

IP35 Pro MB
Intel Q6600 CPU
2 lot of GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) to make 4 GB
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Western Digital Raptor X 150GB 10000RPM SATA

Sound OK??

Looking great although I'd pick up a normal SataII Drive and leave the Raptors as the Hitachi drives are not much slower to be honest. I've only seen a review of Hitachi Vs the Raptor and I'll tell you that the price does not match the perormance in any way at all. It will give you slightly faster access times but that's not all that drives do.
