Whils browsing & pooping this morning a Reuters article popped up regarding a recent case won against the PNSI regarding holiday pay & variable pay.

I ended up on the .gov site & it appears that staff on variable pay should be paid an amount per day whilst on holiday based on their average pay over the last 52 weeks rather than just a days basic salary, including commission, bonuses & overtime but excluding expenses.

Has anyone come accross this in real life?

If this is the case i'm owed about £5k lol

Must be related to the same thing, a few months ago my company reached an agreement with my union about paying us holiday pay for our overtime worked since 2021. In November I'll be getting around £3k pre tax payment for the 2 years 2021/22 according to my calculations.

Now that we get this every year going forward, I might start taking unpaid days so I effectively get more annual leave... 52 days I get isn't enough :p

52 days?! is that for real? is that because you carried over unused leave from a previous year or is that your standard entitlement?

I don't want to hijack thread but I'm interested in annual leave allowance at the moment because I'm job hunting and finding that quite a few places give 25 days annual leave a year. This is less than I'm used to, what's enough though?

38 days + several freebies per year from the bosses across the organisation + 15 days max carried over from the previous year = 55+ annual leave days.

However, no variable pay, so no new GPU for me :(

There are some caveats with what count variable pay wise.

We've had it calculated into our pay at work for 2-3 years or so now - if you have a quiet period at work and it applies can be a good idea to book a load of time off then to maximize your pay.

25 must be plus BH as 28 is minimum? So 33? Still higher than most that are on 28.

Standard 52, 37 plus another 15 for working 37.5 hours a week, but getting paid for 35 hours (another union agreement from years ago). So used to it now could never go back to anything less.

The "standard" for Mon-Fri office jobs in my experience is 25 plus bank holidays, often with increments based on length of service.
