Comodo still rated as firewall?

Just had a look at that Online Armour, but it says it isn't Vista compatible, so I'll leave that.

Damn, just when I'd made my mind up to use Comodo, now people are saying it doesn't remember rules, and that's it's pestering.

Pestering is exactly what I'm trying to get away from.

I'm not so fussed about it auto allowing all windows apps etc, I'm quite happy to have a blanket block of everything, and I allow/disallow each prog when internet access is attempted, so long as it remembers thereafter, unless I specify to ask each time.

Oh damn, I didn't know it wasn't Vista compatible. :(

Why not try Comodo v2.4? I really liked that... give it a try and see if you like it.

EDIT: I don't think Comodo v2.4 works on Vista either... damn :(

Ah, I didn't even think to look for that.
I only saw v3 on the main download page.

Anyway, I've downloaded the latest versions of Avast and Comodo now, so will give them a try soon. If I have problems with Comodo 3, I'll be asking for another recommendation for a free software firewall ;)
Hopefully it will remember its rules though, and block the traffic I want blocking, and let the rest communicate freely... incoming I'm not so fussed about, as my router can deal with that.

Thanks for all the tips,
V1N.

PS. if 2.4 does work with 64bit Vista, please feel free to post a link :)

I have the Comodo defense running but use a trick I found on their Forum, which is to select 'Treat this application as' and 'use as installer or Updater, instead of 'Allow this request' then tick 'remember' or not as you wish. This cuts down the pop up's to one or two per program.

I've just put Comodo v3 on my main PC and made sure that the install process didn't activate Defence+ and its running peachy. :)

I did try OnlineArmour but after a while it was using 100% cpu so I dumped that.

Comodo v3 with Defence+ is brilliant I say.

Thanks for that.
I've got 20 days left on Norton, and have just spent the day repairing a strange ntl.dll error that was preventing Winamp working.

Next time I get a free afternoon, I'll uninstall Norton, and install Comodo and try to acustom myself to it. I'm quite looking forward to it :) (with defence plus unticked!)
