Hi all,

Does anyone thats using Comdo Firewall get what i assume is checkdisk.exe (chdsk.exe i think, summit like that anyway) asking to connect to the internet, its just started asking today again, i get Comdo popping up saying that checkdisk.exe a parent of internet explorer is wanting to connect or something, and saying some guff about ie being a safe app or summit, but when i just click deny i get a minimized server could not be found or summit box in the startbar, then if i maximise it to see what it is, it goes full screen, covers everything and is just the page cannot be displayed job, so i have to get the Task Manager up to close it, and also everytime i restart my PC i have to relogin everywhere again, its like all my cookies are getting cleared or something.

I did have this same thing about 2x days ago, i adware scanned/virus scanned etc... but found nothing, so i decided to do a full format reinstall, that worked for about 2x days, but come today i turned on, and im back to having to login everywhere again all the time i restart, and the chdsk.exe has started again as well.

Anyone got any ideas wtf is going on, i really can't be bothered with another reinstall, as it only worked for 2x days the last time, so chances are it'll be ok again for a bit, then start again.

Thanks. :)

Is this to do with Comodo AV or FW? I've only got the AV running here. No chkdsk.exe running but then it shouldn't unless I run it. As for checkdisk.exe that doesn't sound brilliant that. Have you run a HiJackThis log? Analyse it here.

I'm running a chkdsk now and its not asked to access the Internet as far as I am aware.

Sorry about that its the Firewall im running, ive never ran a checkdisk, must be someting to do with Comodo still learning, as it just pops on asking of its own accord, ive never ticked the nerver ask again after i deny it, as im not sure why its asking, i wanted to find out first. :)

Hmm still weird. If you've never done a chkdsk why would it ask to access the Internet? Its dormant surely until its run.

I'm using Comodo, never had this issue. It's a bit of a faff with all the layers it has but it does do the job.

I'd check your logs if you aren't sure what it's doing.

Hmm odd, well im baffled here, i fully uninstalled Comodo, but its not that, ive still got to login again everytime i restart.

Im wondering if im picking something up from a website or summit, as i went to this site beofre and it kept opening new windows of things even though ive got a pop up blocker, so these windows must be able to bypass it somehow, thats all i can think it being as i remember it started not long after if it did, then after id done my format, reinstall, id forgot and went to that site again, but when it started opening the otehr windows i remembered so closed em off, then it was not long after that again my login prob started again, so i wonder if its that site doing summit.

Hi there not getting that here either ,it just pops up asking to except each new thing u add ,but after that works fine ..

Well this is odd, someone told me to try Firefox2 to see if that does the same, well ive put it on, restarted, and nope, im still logged in fine using that.

so Firefox2 is working fine, but my explorer isn't.

I take it you've never really changed the settings in IE?

No never changed anything at all, i just turned my PC on today and i had to log in everywhere again, and i have to do it everytime i restart.

It started a few days ago but i formatted and reinstalled again, then it was fine for a couple of days, then today when i switched on i was back to having to login all the time again.

Im wondering if im picking soemthing up from a website or summit, as a few days ago i was looking at these thumbnail pics, when i clicked on em they started opening in another window, i think it was an image site they were hosted on, but i also got other windows starting to open which my popup blocker never blocked (which i thought was odd), so i just closed em off, then me login prob started a few days after that when i turned my PC on one day, so i formatted, reinstalled, but the other day i clicked on some more of these thumbnails as id forgot about the other windows, then when the other windows started opening i was like ahh damn forgot about that, and closed em down again, now not long after i done that, my login probs come back.

Have you got any decent anti-spyware stuff? Like Ad-aware, Spybot, AVG Anti-Spyware? If you have, update them and run a scan. If not get them and scan the friggin' hell out of your PC. Sounds like something is on your PC that shouldn't be. Do a Hijackthis report as well. I linked to a site that analyses it for you earlier.

Yeah ive virus scanned, ive used Adware SE, ran em in windows, safe mode, all updated, and nothing comes up, so thats the only place i can think off thats doing it, as i only clicked on these thumbnails about a week ago, then i got me login prob few days later, so formatted and that as said, was fine, then i forgot and clicked on em again, now login probs back.

Right well i done a hijack this log and posted it in that link you gave, posted it in and clicked analyze, but i don't know what happens next, does it appear a the top of that list then it gets looked at and i get a safe or whatever like is already there next to some others.

Thanks. :)

The log should appear as two columns. The first is each process or whatever has been scanned. Then in the second column, next to each result is a Safe or Unsafe graphic I think it is.

Is that on that website, as when i pasted my log into the box i clicked on the analyze and it appeard in the top of the list where the othere are, i says actions, has my entry log, then it says kind, which has a big green tick in it, and when i hover over it it says safe, has a visitors assessment, and an information column.
