Hey guys, I've just bought my self a new 400gb samsung sata drive to go in my shuttle but it keep freezing either on boot up or within windows??
I've got a raptor connected to one of the sata connectors and a maxtor connected to the ide. it has support for 2 sata drives so i've got the samsung on the second sata channel.
sometimes it will boot fine and then freeze in windows, but only when im doin somethin quite intensive with it. when i try to copy large amounts of files onto it, after about 20 mins it locks up windows but when i spent the good part of an hour and a half formatting it in windows, it was fine (till i tried copyin files to it after), also copyin single files seems to be fine??
On other times it will freeze while booting, just before its about to detect the drives connected
does anyone have any ideas? flakey sata controller, dodgy drive, bad cable etc?
quick EDIT: i've also put a jumper on the drive to limit it to sata 1.5gb/s instead of 3gb/s as i think my board only supports sata I. still crashes though
