My dad's after a new camera with a 5X or more zoom lens so he can get photos of his german shepherd.

My mam's got a Panasonic LZ7 which he quite likes, and I've got a Panasonic FZ8 which he likes too, but he thinks it's probably a bit big for him.

As we obviously like Panasonic, I was thinking of another LZ7 or LZ8, possibly a TZ3, or something along those lines.

Anyone got any decent suggestions please? Thanks. :)

this is only 4x and 8 mpix but I got one for my Dad and it has a decent size screen and works really well very good pics from it

Canon Powershot A590 IS

and about £112 with a quick search

I just recently bought a Panasonic TZ4 for the wife (so she doesn't have to carry the 400d around everywhere).
This has been a lovely piece of kit, but I don't think you can get it for less than around £140.
If you can source a TZ3 (we've got one at work) it should be around the price you're looking at and they are great cameras.

powershot a720is has 6x zoom ... slightly more expensive than the 590 but not my all that much.

N.b. warning ... may cost more than you expect ... bought one for my wife for her birthday and having played with it and its 6x zoom have concluded it may be time to get something new to replace/suplement my several year old Olympus C-40 with its 2.8x zoom!
