Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor

Bored of Relic / THQ fobbing off the CoH community with promises of patches.

It is a good game, but the balance is so terrible it's broken the game frankly.

I can't see much need for patches, personally  What's supposed to be broken? I've yet to find a strategy I can't beat, or to use a strategy that can't be beaten.

Care to elaborate on that, i need to know more info. Love Band of Brothers

Its not Band of Brothers 2, its The Pacific. Being made by the same company however its pretty much an all American cast and only focuses on 3 people this time, rather than a company. Still, looks awesome :D.

Shared resources in team games + brit bonuses, gamebreaking.

Strafing run STILL doesn't work properly.

The entire British faction is just a terrible choice in game design. It doesn't fit, it never will.

Unit blocking due to shoddy vehicle AI.

Retreating to the british HQ while mobile.

Invincible captain bug. It's pretty hilarious with a shrek vs. a load of armour. :]

PE can't delete their base defences.

Multiple squads can booby trap the same building.

Refunding of munitions if the strafing plane is shot down on the way in - retarded.

I could go on but there's no point. The game is broken right now. ****ing fix it before you release more half-baked expansions.

TBH that's a list of pretty minor complaints, it hardly constitutes "broken". You obviously don't like the brits but they're not SUPPOSED to fit, they're designed to be played and played against very differently to the other factions, and it works.

The PE base guns bug is an irritation, but no more... PE have no shortage of weapons to blow them up with using "attack ground", so it's not a real problem. It should have been fixed of course, but it's trivial.

The AI vehicle movement bugs inherently aren't balance issues as they affect everyone...

I've never seen this unkillable captain bug, read about it though. Going by the number of reports it's extremely rare (and for me not to have seen it, it has to be), and quite a lot of the forum posts about it are "LOL My AT gunz can't kill a captain one11"

I do agree that the brit resource bonus shouldn't transfer though. The resource boost is never an issue with them but it can boost the US a bit too much at times. I think some of your posts have merit but it hardly breaks the game, and others are just things you personally dislike about it, tbh.

u have to be vastly superior in skill to play a team game as the axis... the brits are designed to only take about a third of the map and have as many resources as their opponent due to their base buildings .... so if they have a teammate and take half the map they will have so much more resources than their opponents.... and their teammate will be swimming in resources due to all their bonus's ... that alone put me off 2v2's when ur kicking ass as the axis yet still being outteched you know something is wrong

But at the same time, the axis are the more aggressive side so can take more resources earlier, while to use the british emplacement benefit to its full use you have to be more defensive. Manpower is still restrictive for the allies, since the multiplier only works on resources, and it's an edge that can be replicated with LPs. Plus, to get the full benefit you need to relocate your base buildings, and spread them out, making them more vulnerable and costing you production time. You can't simcity at the same time as getting the full "broken" advantage from the trucks. Still, despite all this I do basically agree, I think it's an advantage, I just don't agree it's a gamebreaker

My averages are better as axis than allies tbh, and we play mostly 2v2 and 3v3. Mainly because of shrecks, mind, which I know a lot of people would argue are broken the other way... But it's interesting, since so many people agree that the sides aren't balanced, but relatively few people can agree on which side it is that's stronger :D

I used to balance playtest for a CCG company, and this was basically the state of play that we aimed for- you could never get a state where everyone would agree that it was balanced, you just tried to get to a point where everyone still moaned about balance, but nobody could agree what was the imbalanced side/strategy/faction/card :D

I keep having a massive surplus of ammo when playing as the Brits, any ideas what I could use it on ?

Creeping Barrage!!!

And personally, I really enjoyed the first two, and am looking forward to this new one. Would have perfered a North Africa/Eastern Front game though :(
