Compare your PC to the world's fastest supercomputers!

"Processor POWER5 1900 MHz (7.6 GFlops)"

cant be right surely?? didnt the old macs use a PowerPC 5?? if they were capable of this then surely the new core duo will be much slower.... i guess its not just te amount of FLOPS that make a processor fast then?!?

Mac G5 was based on PowerPC 4 supposedly, bit confusing!

It's an extrapolation from studies done on the retina and how much processing power is involved in computer visual processing / tracking etc etc.
Fair enough, but I still don't see what it's got to do with FLOPS.

Cooo, look at No. 38

Now I know nothing about super-computers but that Hitachi seems to be holding its own pretty well with it's "lowly" 80 CPU's vs the hundreds or thousands of CPU's the other machines sport.

Job done.
Off topic but why install anything. Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > Narrator.

Loads of fun. Reads from the active window - using notepad can be a giggle :)

How do you think your brain triangulates the approach of a ball so your hand can catch it...

Do you know of any supercomputer that can do that?

My computer does it all the time, whilst playing goalkeeper in fifa :p

Is it any wonder:
Processor POWER5+ 2100 MHz (134.4 GFlops)

surely that would just be nuts in a desktop if it could run X86?!

Same for all the servers, might be a tad overrated though.

I dont think it would be for 4-way as why quote that when these things are 5000+way :)

In that case, this benchmark isn't the same as the one they are using, but thanks for the info!

That system has 10880 CPUs in it, and its peak performance (theoretical) is 43520 GFlops, meaning each CPU is indeed 4 GFlops.

Damn. That means mine should be 6 GFlops :(

Someone find another benchmark! :D
