Comparing Documents

At work we are changing the software which produces all the documents for our customers, and since we are doing a "like for like" conversion we need to compare the output from the new software with that of the old.

There are around 500 documents, each with several permutations of paragraphs on the page.

Initially we looked at an application like STREAMdiff to compare these outputs for us, and highlight differences, but that program is far too complicated to set up, especially for 500 different documents.

I thought of OCR to scan and something examine the documents, but I am not sure how to go about this.

The main issue is that although the wordings on the pages may be the same, the actual location on the page may vary by a few mm to cm depending on the formatting and layout - STREAMdiff could not handle this.

Does anyone have any ideas?
