I have a P4 3.2Ghz CPU in my 4 year old desktop. I'm looking at buying a laptop, never had one before and I'm a bit lost with the new chipsets.

How would, for example a T5550 1.83Ghz Core 2 Duo compare in raw performance/real world usage to my desktop? My desktop has 1Gb RAM and I'd go for 2Gb in the laptop.

Are there any other factors to consider?
