comparison.

Why not grab a mondeo mate? might be more reliable than any of those.

EDIT: Here Its about 50 miles away from hinckley but looks ok at a glance (bit more expensive too tho)

because for some reason everyone hates rovers, make sure the coolant and oil are both looked after and there is no mayo and you will be fine, good engines

I find it hard to recommend any of those 3, they are new and cheap for a reason, they all have a reputation for being less than plain sailing, the Laguna especially so.

A decent Mondeo will be older but considerably more reliable.

Jim sold a Gorgeous Mondy last week cheap, Give him a ring & tell him what you are looking for & sit back & wait for a bargain.

I had a Punto in my family for 8 years and apart from yearly servicing it never cost us a penny. Would get one again if I needed cheap A to B motoring with a small engine.

The 1.2 8v FIRE is the best of the lot, not much to go wrong apart from the HG so make sure thats done somewhere between 60k and 72k.

Doubt you'll have many mechanical issues but being Italian be wary of any electrical faults, check everything works inside if you do look at one.

Uber cheap to run, I did 50mpg and that was pushing the car quite hard I felt. Insurance was £400 for a 19 year old and tax is your bog standard £120 I think.

Won't have the toys and mod cons of bigger cars though.

As to why the OP didn't initially put Mondeo.
Sometimes in life you just want to be different - even if that may not neccessarily be the best choice.

When I was 17 and everyone around me was just passing their test, Ford Fiesta and Ford Escort (if they were richer kids) were the car of choice.
For the time - good, solid, quite reliable, did the job etc.
After I passed my test I was preparing to join the Fiesta "boys" when I went and splashed my hard earn't cash on a Mk1 Golf - that I probably spent the same amount three times over in the time I kept it.

Sometimes you let your heart rule your head :)

cheers for the help.

i'm just keeping my mind open and the only things i was going on was mileage and age. nothing else.

these appeared as did several fords and vauxhalls (astra and vectra).

so far i've got it down to:
vauxhall vectra
ford mondeo

or smaller would be

volkswagon golf/passat
vauxhall astra
ford fiesta
vauxhall corsa(although might be too small as might the fiesta)

obviously the mondeo is the choice car but i didn't want to limit myself. it all depends on if i get my license back as it's looking like it could be 6months+ due to suspensions so that negates this whole thing.

Ignore the Laguna, horrible cars. Renault recognised the mk1 used to combust it's firewall so found a new and moee ingenious way of burning the mk2 - put the main screem drain 1 inch from the fusebox!

The 25 and Punto are cack little runabouts for housewives. Get an older, higher spec Mondeo as per the advice.
