hi

i recently recieved a very generous gift of an icy box

i noticed it had a sata data connection on the back and was wondering if i could use this product

Not sure exactly what the Akasa thing you linked to is for, it seems to route SATA power and data to a 3.5" bay and it's difficult to tell what cables are required. The IcyBox is powered externally with a brick so you only need eSATA - this is a simpler version of what you linked to and will work fine.

If you don't already have one you'll need an eSATA - eSATA cable to connect the IcyBox to that bracket.
