Hi there,
First of all, I'll let you know that I do not have the compatibility issues. This is just information I've gathered about all the components.
After a long time deciding which components to get in my first build, I've made my mind and I have ordered it on Dec 28th. Needless to say, I'm pretty anxious to get my hands on putting all the components together and installing everything, you know...
During the time I'm waiting for the order to get delivered, I'm doing lots of researching and unfortunately there seems to be issues. I'm not saying it is my case because I did not even received it yet but, here we go:
This is my config:
ASUS P6X58D-E
Intel i7 950 3.06 (stock clock)
ASUS GTX 460 1024MB DirectCU
Corsair Dominator 6GB 1600Mhz
Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB (SATA III)
WD Caviar Black 1TB 64MB Cache (SATA III)
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 600W
Pioneer DVDRW
I have only listed the relevant parts. Anyway, as the mobo has two Marvel 6 gbs (SATA III) ports available, obviously I went to two compatible hard drives. The SSD one only for OS and mechanical one for data.
Issue:
- Looks like this particular SSD does not work with Marvel 1928. Post here.
- Pioneer DVD has issues with the Intel chipset on latest firmware 10.1.0.1008. Post here.
- WD 1TB Sata III only being detected by this mobo as a Sata II. Post here.
I mean... Damn! I did not even got the components yet and I already found loads of different compatibility issues between them. Now, I'll just hope everything will be ok as I did not buy Sata III components to be used as Sata II. Hopefully it will work for me. We never know.
I'll most likely install the SSD as ACHI though and make use of the TRIM feature to try to get the most of it. Although I've seen people using SSDs installed as IDE. Any recommendations?
Thank you guys!
Happy 2011!
