have ordered a E8500, P5Q PRO, 4870 an some ocz reaper ram stuff!! lol as an upgrade (other parts being reused).

After countless hours reading, Ive heard of some compatibilty issues with the E8500 and the P5Q Pro, apparently the Pro doesnt take to well to the Wolfdale? core? when OC'ed?

Im no pro but I want to push this past the 4ghz mark, so What i would like to know, does anyone know ouwt about said issues? an will this system push 4ghz on air?

thanks for your help

4Ghz on air? maybe! but you be very lucky lol though the CPU itself is highly clocked anyway so maybe! Asus boards also dont officially support OCZ memory do they?

Why do you want 4Ghz btw

why wouldn't I want it!! lol in all seriousness, I'm not too bothered what I get to, just wanna up it a wee bit, 4 is a target.
ASUS dont support OCZ? didnt know boards were brand specific?

That's why they have QVL lists. Asus boards can be very picky. 4Ghz "should" be possible with a good cooler.

Apparently! though i am running OCZ Reaper mem in an asus P5k and it runs soo nicely! whole rig breaks the 1500 score in 3dmark06
