Hello,

Recently I got caught up with gaming and would like to upgrade my pc. I've had several looks on the inside and saw there was no GPU whatsoever. After quite some time of digging, I decided which one I wanted to get: AMD Radeon RX 580 (8gb). I heard it's quite a combo with an Intel i7-6700.
As I am not an expert in pcs, I was wondering if it indeed is a good graphics card and if it will work properly.

Also, I've had a look at my motherboard and saw there was a narrow space right underneath the GPU. I'd like to know if any graphics card will fit.

Thank you in advance.

Well, for what it's worth, seeing as the PC is fairly recent I expect you'll be fine. If you could just open the case and check out what PSU you have then that would be a sensible step to take.

ATX is standard.

Thank you for your reply.

I did a little bit of research and on the PSU it says WPM Bronze. That's pretty much it.

I couldn't find the ATX model. Is it anywhere around it?

I could send pictures if this is not helpful at all.

EDIT: Many say the PSU is **** :joy: might have to upgrade that as well.

I'm wondering if it might be a Sharkoon PSU? As it's bronze rated then that should be fine. Although companies over spec component power requirements, I believe AMD recommends a 500w unit or above for the RX580.

As for the motherboard model, it will be in the manual - if you have one, and also somewhere on the board, though I can't say precisely where that might be.

Oh wow, thank you so much! I feel like due to the narrow space, no graphic card could be inserted. Which worries me, because I yet have no idea if my preferred graphics card could actually fit.

Lug for the cpu heatsink looks to be covering gpu slot although this might just be photo, check the length of any card you go for and buy from somewhere with good returns just in case it doesn't fit :)

If you're going to start gaming on it again, please clean all the dust from be cpu cooler to stop it overheating. A coolermaster hyper 212 evo would also help cpu temps for not much outlay. The stock intel coolers are rubbish.

If you want to do gaming on an ITX machine, I would not recommend a RX580 as its a power eating monster and generates a lot of heat. a 500W bronze Sharkoon PSU would mostly be fine for the card though.
I would suggest you look at the GTX 1660 as that comes in smaller variants that will easily fit in an ITX case. These cards are much better than a RX 580 in both performance and thermals and will be a lot quieter as well. They also use a lot less power than the 580s.

Alright, guys. Thank you so much. I also have another question.

My PSU did not come with any PCIe cables. Does it require the specific PSU PCIe cables, or is any other cable with 8pins also good? :)

Yes, thank you so much. I mostly play CS:GO and thought RX 580 was genuinely better until I've done a research after what you said. Do I get the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Mini ITX OC 6G then?

Thank you once again :)

Your system isn't ITX (very tiny motherboard) so you should be fine with an RX580. If that's the card you want, go for it. It's good value! Worth making sure you have enough case airflow and a suitable PSU as mentioned above.

Looking at the photos you posted in the first thread, it seems you have a mATX motherboard and not an ITX which is smaller.

If you have a small mATX case, then may be worth checking what size card you can fit in the case. Once you have the size sorted, then you can look for whichever card fits that criteria.

If you have good airflow I would recommend a RX580, else a Nvidia Card like the GTX 1660. No point going for the 1060 at this time as the 1660 are far better and much newer.
I am using the Palit 1660 card which is so tiny it will literally fit in any case and runs quite cool.
