Got an Epson DX7450 All-In-One printer and to date have been using Epson Inks. a 4 colur multipack is around £20 except for one of the High Street Stationery shops where it is £43.
As the printer seems to enjoy a good drink of Ink when printing photos, the cost of printing is fairly high (at home for convenience).
Has anyone tried the compatible ink cartridges? If so any good? Obviously printer manufacturers frown upon them and claim all sorts of bad things will happen to your printer if you don't use their supplies.
Thanks:)

tbh i always advise to avoid 3rd party carts. they invalidate warranty, dont hold as much ink, sometimes leak, and often cause more problems than they are worth. example - as a cost saving measure the powers that be have said we need to trial 3rd party "compatible" carts. we now have 3 printers out of action awaiting the repair man.

however some people have never had any issues. swings and roundabouts.

I have used both original and 3rd party ones, and I have always gone back to originals. I found that the picture quality was much better on originals than the 3rd party ones. It is true that they void your warranty and they do leak a lot.

Try an Epson Express store (you can find them on the Epson website) see if they can do the inks cheaper for you, when i lived in Glasgow the epson store was selling them around £1 cheaper per cart than any where else.

I guess you wouldn't really want to save a few quid here and there and get grief from the results and the printer supplier.
Thanks guys!
p.s. anyone know of a good source for genuine stuff or is it just a browse and hope it's your lucky day?;)
