Compatible Memory

I am wondering what type of memory is compatible with the i7 920 processor, the i7920 processor according to the manufactures website indicates that the max speed i can install is DDR3 1066. To be honest i think this is lame.

I think the new type of Intel processors do restrict the bus speed of the RAM, but while browsing the internet I find people deciding to buy different speeds of RAM above 1066, this is confusing me :s.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

The SATA 3 ports on the Asus P6X58D-E come from a Marvell controller which is quite poor and you may actually get better performance from an Intel SATA 2 connection.

See here and here.

I've also read in various threads that the Marvell controller doesn't support TRIM.

Interesting Surveyor, it does indeed seem the Marvell controller is poor. However about the TRIM, according to wikipedia 'More recent SSDs will often contain internal idle/background garbage collection mechanisms that work independently of TRIM;'.

Technology seems like its changing fast.
