Hi all,

This is probably quite a newbish question. I was looking to get this mboard with my new build:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-236-GI

It says the following Triple Channel RAM is compatible:

DDR3 DIMM 2200 / 1333 / 1066 / 800 MHz

What confuses me is that there's no 2200 speed RAM sold on OC. There is 2000 and 1600. A friend suggested that 2000 would be compatible, but when overclocking the processor the RAM is clocked too, and anything over 2200 would mean the motherboard wouldn't be able to register it. Is it safest to go with 1333 and overclock it? Or would 1600 be possible and overclock that, seeing as it isn't such a huge jump from 1333 and wouldn't be such a strain on the memory?

Sorry it seems like quite a basic uestion :o

1333mhz is the stock speed for a i7 everything over that will be a overclocked setting in the bios.

p.s that's an expensive motherboard,

1600mhz ram will work fine, I use the Patriot Viper ram on my X58 UD5 build, but when buying the ram you need to look at the heatsink as some may interfere with the cpu heatsink.

Iv heard that DDR4 will be out next year! (off topic)
2000 will work and to get the RAM up by another 200 when oc'ing the mobo is some doing.
