I've had no access to the internet for over a week (starting on a sunday morning and this is my first day back online) becuase apperently somebody crashed into one of those green cubboards they have in the street for telecoms and internet access (I'm only going along with what I'm told about the cuase and I was told that some moron, probably a drink driver, crashed their car into it, thus depriving 8000 people around my way (this is what I've been told) of internet access.
question is, based on what I've been told about the circumstances but my sources could be wrong, do I get compensation?

Compensation from who?

You're being prepared for the electricity black outs that won't materialise.
Go check out that thread as some think 3 hours without Internet will be the end of the world.

probably need to have backup solutions 4g/5g , cloud based processing, if the internet is mission critical for business use (what does OC have ?) - Elon's option.
- maybe you can buy enhanced insurance cover.

I think most ISPs do provide some kind of rebate for loss or service like this, best just to ask them.

Not sure if that's still the case where someone has crashed into the green cabinet though, opposed to a technical fault.

Arguably that's not the ISP fault, and the household should claim against the car insurance of the person who crashed.

They will either give you some small amount of money back or say "act of god".

Probably on a "technicality" - your ISP will say no. It wasn't their outage/damage that cause the down time. It was outside sources etc.

You might get £10 off your next bill, but you certainly won't be getting compensation / cash in your pocket. No chance.
