Hey,

Started to decide on a new system. I have chosen a few things like a CPU and graphics card (open to crticism) but wouldn't mind some advice on motherboards and CPU cooling in particular. This is what I have so far:

Overall I am after a decent system (nothing too flashy but still able to run most things including the odd game) and keeping it fairly quiet woul be nice as my current pc is noisy as hell esspecially after i added a BFG 7800GS OC :(

Anyway any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers, Dave

Budget wise I originally thought 600 maybe 700 for the base unit.

I don't think I will be clocking the processor because I really doubt it will make much difference to me, and I know very little about doing it. So the Arctic 7 cooler looks good.

So do people think that the "XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £164.99" is a better choice than the Sapphire I originally posted?

Thanks, Dave

Hey,

Yeah that looks good. Couple of things,

The Antec III Piano Piano case I chose has a 500W power supply included so I wouldn't need another right? Unless for some reason this PSU isn't high enough spec?

Just wondered what is better about the "XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB" over the "Sapphire ATI Radeon 4870 1024MB"

Also I have DVD writers etc so no need for them.

Thanks, Dave

ahh i would just sell the psu you get with the case, would be risky with that system mate, and no big difference in the graphics cards, just a personel preference :)

could anyone recommend an alternative to the "Antec Sonata III Piano Black Quiet Case - Black (EarthWatts 500W PSU) £114.99" without a PSU included then? Just i doubt I will really get round to selling the spare psu and might as well try and save a few quid in the first place.

I was recommended this case originlly because of how quiet it is.
